Official Crunch Pod press release (written by Christian Bankes [CP Promotion])

Lexincrypt’s latest album "Of Unsound Mind" took us on journey into the deepest recesses of the human mind. It brought us face-to-face with some of the dankest, bleakest parts of the human psyche. Now you’ve managed to survive your trip and figured you can move on... but you can’t. Some things are not meant to be forgotten and linger with you forever. You have been left with something -- a souvenir of sorts. Scar tissue.

"Scar Tissue" is the follow up release to Lexincrypt’s highly successful comeback album "Of Unsound Mind." "Scar Tissue" was a song found on “Of Unsound Mind” and it quickly became a fan favorite. It, along with a few other select tracks, has been remixed by fellow survivors of the experience. Old wounds do heal, just not always properly.

Tracklisting:

1) Scar Tissue (Mangadrive remix)
2) Scar Tissue (Little Sap Dungeon remix)
3) Misanthropic Me (Xiescive remix)
4) Scar Tissue (C/A/T remix)
5) Scar Tissue (Exeter remix)
6) Misanthropic Me (The Ludovico Technique remix)
7) Scar Tissue (Hodr remix)
8) Unfaithful (c2.control.org remix)
9) Misanthropic Me (Sinsect remix)
0) Scar Tissue (Filament 38 remix)

lyrics, 'scar tissue' single, the future of lexincrypt

november 5, 2010

First and foremost, I've had countless requests for lyrics to 'Of Unsound Mind.' I promised long ago that I was working on a PDF lyric sheet that also had sample transcriptions but have been running into some issue or another. I'm happy to say that I can finally cater to the fans and that the PDF is complete (though you'll probably have to do some zooming to see the sample transcription text). It can be downloaded here.

'scar tissue' single announced

Some time in the near(ish) future Crunch Pod will be releasing a digital single for the track 'Scar Tissue.' While I have a handful of remixes back, I'm still waiting for a few more; we'll have more of a sense of when this will be available once everything is in my hands. The single will feature remixes of 'Scar Tissue,' 'Misanthropic Me,' 'Unfaithful,' and maybe even a b-side or two if they end up working out. Remixers will include fellow labelmates Mangadrive, The Ludovico Technique, and Chaos and Terror as well as Arzt+Pfusch, Filament 38, Little Sap Dungeon, Xiescive and perhaps even a few more. The point here is not to drill you to death with the same song over and over again. Some remixers are picking up the club-worthiness that the new album so obviously lacks while others are taking completely different directions. Everything I have back so far is excitingly unique and I feel quite lucky to be involved with these people.

the future of lexincrypt

I said it before, I'll say it again now, and I'm sure you'll hear me say it in the future: the process of writing 'Of Unsound Mind' was very, very draining. Once the album was finished I was eager to step back from the project and work on something new. I started work on an untitled side-project that was very IDM influenced. Now, when I say "influenced" that's exactly what I mean; it wasn't IDM but it did have me focusing a lot more on beats, automation, and a lot of big, breathy pads. However, after the album's release this past week I just can't help but feel motivated about Lexincrypt with all of the insanely positive feedback I've received. I spent a lot of time thinking about my future music endeavors, reworked a few things to see what would work and what wouldn't, and it looks as the material I started for this side-project is just going to end up as new Lexincrypt material -- which I'm fine with.

So, that's my needlessly long-winded way of saying that work on the next album has already begun. 'Of Unsound Mind' is a time-line throughout its tracks and ended with implications of suicide; the new album will pickup where that time-line left off. Since it is still very much in a developmental phase I'll just leave it at that for now.

new album 'of unsound mind' out now

september 21, 2010

Lexincrypt's first album in five years and Crunch Pod debut 'Of Unsound Mind' is out now! The album can be purchased at all major digital retailers.

Advanced MP3s were sent out to labelmates and individuals who pre-ordered a copy of the limited edition physical run. Here is what some of those people are saying about the album:

"Dark, menacing and aggressive with elements of sadness that hit you in the gut."

"Album is fucking brutal. [...] I don't think dark really even describes most of it."

"Sooo good. Soooo dark."

"The problem that I found after listening to the new album three times now is that I really have to prepare myself for it or I have to already be in a certain state of mind in order to listen to it. I can honestly say this album is the only album that I have found myself 'preparing' myself to listen to, which is in fact a good thing. You bring a shit load of emotion, albeit depressing and sad emotion, into your music that it really makes me paint imagines and ideas into my head for each song on this album."

To be continued...

new album announcement

july 13, 2010

A storm has been lurking overhead and the rains of discontent, self-loathing, and helplessness are now coming down in full force. After a five-year hiatus, Lexincrypt returns with its new album "Of Unsound Mind," its most mature, dark, and anguished material to date. The philosophy of Lexincrypt has always centered on maintaining a balance of aggression and depression; that balance, however, has been lost as the latter has inevitably consumed the former. With a disconsolate focus on personal shortcomings, ineptitude, instability, and the absence of the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, "Of Unsound Mind" touches on the many angles of just that -- a mind with a penchant for self-destruction, exhausted by days dark and darker.

The turmoil and experiences that paved the way for this release were not only emotionally difficult but also exceptionally draining in every respect, conjuring otherwise dormant personal demons as well as dealing with the ones that never went away. Because of this, KarlozM (Manufactura), Ash (Filament 38), and Xiescive have lent their remarkable talents to reinstate the momentum in this endeavor -- an endeavor that may have otherwise remained forever stagnant. Lexincrypt also finds a new home with Crunch Pod to bring you its most self-defining album to date.

Track listing: 01. Misanthropic Me, 02. Scar Tissue, 03. Let Me Die, 04. Of Unsound Mind, 05. Latent Affliction, 06. Crawl to My Grave, 07. The Answer (feat. Xiescive), 08. Unfaithful (feat. Filament 38), Apathy Is Not An Option, 10. The November Plague (feat. KarlozM)

manufactura collaboration

march 29, 2010

Manufactura's new album "As They Drown In Their Lies" was officially announced this morning. I am very proud and fortunate to have collaborated with my good friend and respected musical colleague on two tracks. Here's the official release statement:

Influential, controversial, admired and despised. The Madness known as Manufactura returns with the brand new album, "As They Drown In Their Lies". Once again blending everything from rhythmic noise to electro, dubstep, techno, trance and IDM. For this new work Manufactura has brought along a few friends for the production, for the damage and for the mayhem, including Lexincrypt, Iszoloscope, Electronic Substance Abuse (ESA) and Lucid Static. This particular body of work is being dedicated to all Poets, Writers, Artists & Musicians. It includes 4 tracks specifically reinterpreting the poems and songs of Charles Bukowski, Leonard Cohen, Jim Carroll & Lou Reed. Sinister, dark, twisted and filled with a distinctive malevolence that may cause this album to be considered one of Manufactura's heaviest and strongest releases to date.

Available through Crunch Pod on May 1st 2010

track list:

01. CASTING THE INFERNAL CURSE
02. YOUR DEMISE (MNFCTR & ESA)
